Evaluation of the Balgo Community Capacity Builder Project
The Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA) of the Government of Western Australia supported a community capacity builder to work at Balgo in the East Kimberley for one year up until June 2008.
The project plan specified an evaluation to be conducted at the end of the work. Ninti One contributed to the evaluation of the Balgo Community Capacity Builder Project through advice and support to a staff member of the DIA to undertake the work.
This helped the DIA to ascertain the extent to which the project objectives were achieved and to identify and weigh the relative importance of the various factors that contributed to the outcomes.
In addition, through the work Ninti One collaborated with the DIA to build the research capacity of the DIA's staff to conduct this kind of evaluation in the future.
The findings of the evaluation added to the body of knowledge about capacity-building for effective governance in remote communities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
